Partnership with Kyiv Regional Mental Health Center to Support Ukrainians
On May 23, 2024, the Angels for Ukraine Foundation and the Kyiv Regional Mental Health Center signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on providing mental health services to Ukrainians impacted by the ongoing war with russia.
The partnership aims to increase access to counseling, therapy, and support groups for those suffering from trauma, anxiety, depression and other mental health issues resulting from the war. Angels for Ukraine will help mobilize resources for the center to expand its services and capacity.
“Having witnessed unspeakable horrors, many Ukrainians are understandably suffering from severe psychological trauma,” said Raitis Bullits, cofounder of Angels for Ukraine. “This collaboration will allow us to provide the care and support they urgently require on a much wider scale.”
Under the agreement, the center will hire and train additional psychologists, counselors and therapists. It will also launch mobile clinics to bring services directly to people in areas heavily affected by russian bombing and violence.
The partnership will prioritize aiding groups like children, soldiers, and veterans dealing with PTSD and those who have experienced violence, loss of loved ones, or destruction of their homes and communities.
Mental health professionals from the center will also help train volunteers and staff from Angels for Ukraine and other organizations on trauma counseling and psychological first aid.
The joint initiative underscores the increasing global recognition that the mental health crisis in Ukraine requires a massive humanitarian response. Both organizations lauded the memorandum as an important step in that effort.
