410 Water Filters Delivered to Mykolaivska Oblast
In the sun-scorched south of Ukraine, where the war has not only scarred the land but also fractured the very systems that sustain life, access to clean drinking water has become a daily struggle. Responding to this urgent need, the Angels for Ukraine Charity Foundation, with the support of partners, has successfully distributed 410 household water filters to families across Mykolaivska Oblast, bringing immediate relief and long-term resilience to communities facing water insecurity.
The Crisis Beneath the Surface
Since the onset of full-scale war, southern Ukraine has faced a cascading collapse of critical infrastructure. In Mykolaivska Oblast, the destruction of water pipelines, contamination of wells, and disruption of municipal services have left thousands without reliable access to safe drinking water. The situation worsened after the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam in 2023, which drastically altered the region’s hydrological balance, salinizing groundwater and drying up reservoirs.
For many households, especially in rural areas, the only available water is drawn from shallow wells or delivered sporadically by humanitarian convoys. This water is often unsafe—laden with bacteria, heavy metals, or chemical pollutants. Without filtration, families are forced to choose between dehydration and disease.
A Lifeline in Every Filter
The 410 water filters distributed by Angels for Ukraine are more than just tools—they are lifelines. Designed for individual household use, these filters remove up to 99.9% of harmful contaminants, including bacteria, protozoa, and microplastics. Each unit can purify thousands of liters of water, ensuring that families have access to clean drinking water for months to come.
The distribution prioritized:
- Families with children and elderly members
- Households affected by shelling and other traces of war
- Crisis families with low income and those who have members with disabilities
Local volunteers and partner organizations helped identify the most vulnerable recipients and provided training on how to use and maintain the filters effectively.
Building Resilience, Not Just Relief
